Tim Cavanaugh thinks so, and he points to Obama’s yea vote on the Vitter amendment, proposed just after Hurricane Katrina, to make his case. The Vitter amendment:

“To prohibit the confiscation of a firearm during an emergency or major disaster if the possession of such firearm is not prohibited under Federal or State law.

I’ve noticed this vote before, and it’s one of several small votes Obama’s made in favor of individual rights over the state. Make no mistake, Obama’s terrible on guns: he supports a ban on semiautomatic weapons (I’m not sure if that was only a state ban in Illinois, or a federal ban). But looking at his general record on civil liberties writ large, he always stands above Hillary.
