Wired Magazine has a long article on absinthe: The Mystery of the Green Menace.
I was planning on giving this recipe a try sometime soon. It sounds like it’s the one a friend of mine tried a few years ago, which was actually pretty good.

That recipe sounds like a fine collection of flavours, but speaking from study & experience, you really need to distill the product after the first tincting, then re-tinct lightly to get good colouration & refresh the flavour.
The distillation refines the taste & corrects some of the detrimental chemistry of the wormwood, and really is the only way to make a truly worthy Green Faerie. You won’t get the lovely “emerald to opal” transformation when adding the sugar water without distilling & re-tincting.
Start with Dale Pendell’s recipe in Pharmako/Poeia for technique, and change the ingredients around if you like for taste.
Good Luck,

Yeah, that is basically what I was planning on doing… using the process from Pharmako/Poeia and the ingredients from the above recipe. Need the P/P recipe for exact measurements anyway.
